The Firearms for Ladies course is available in two different length courses, one 4 hour for handguns only, and one 8 hour course for handguns, rifles, and shotguns. These courses are designed to introduce interested ladies to the various types of firearms commonly in use; their safe use, maintenance, and security. This course is designed to be conducted without the able assistance of husbands, boyfriends, and other well meaning but critical partners. This will ensure a friendly, non-threatening environment to learn, so that old habits do not need to be unlearned.
We start with a review of the various types of firearms commonly found in a home (depending on the course selected) - handguns, rifles, and shotguns. We will discuss the terminology used, the differences in the construction and operation of the various firearms, and the safe handling and secure storage of each. The emphasis is on the SAFE and SECURE usage of the firearms.
The Introductory course also covers the basic state and federal firearms laws. It is not designed to make you a legal expert, but to know when and where you can transport a firearm to and from hunting, fishing, or recreational firing ranges. This is very important in today's legally paranoid world.
Firearm selection criteria will be covered so you will know what to look for in each type of firearm should you desire to purchase one after taking the class. (I do not sell firearms!)
Finally, you will have the opportunity if you want, to participate in a live fire range exercise in which you will become familiar with the basic marksmanship fundamentals for each type of firearm.
You are encouraged to bring your personal firearms to the class, but one is not required for the class.
